Athlete Waiver & Registration
This Participant Release, Waiver and Indemnification Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between the participant (“Player”) and EPIC (Elite Pickleball International Championship Pte Ltd.) (“EPIC”), organiser of the EPIC World Championship in Amateur Pickleball, Singapore, together with their respective affiliates, sponsors, partners, and service providers (collectively, “EPIC Parties”).
Player understands and agrees that Player may be filmed, televised, photographed, and may have Player’s name, nickname, image, likeness, voice, performance, signature, biographical information, country of representation, DUPR rating, or any other identifiable features otherwise captured in connection with the Events (“Materials”).
Player hereby grants to the EPIC Parties a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, distribute, modify, display, and create derivative works of all Materials for any purpose, including commercial purposes, without further notice, payment, or approval from Player.
Player acknowledges and consents to the collection, use, storage, and disclosure of Player’s personal data (including name, contact details, date of birth, nationality, DUPR rating, and images/video) by the EPIC Parties for the purposes of administering the Events, communicating with Player, publishing results, and marketing. Player’s data may be transferred to countries outside Singapore and will be handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (Singapore). Player may withdraw consent for marketing at any time by contacting registration@EPICWorldChampionship.com.
Player voluntarily and knowingly assumes full responsibility for all risks of illness, injury, death, or property damage arising from participation in the Events, including but not limited to: physical contact between players; being struck by a pickleball or paddle; slipping, falling, or tripping; overexertion, dehydration, heat exhaustion; risks related to travel, accommodation, and ancillary activities; and all other hazards inherent in athletic competition.
Player represents that Player is physically fit and has no medical condition that would prevent safe participation. Matches may be played on outdoor courts subject to Singapore’s tropical climate. Player specifically assumes all risks associated with high temperatures, humidity, UV exposure, and sudden weather changes.
PLAYER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT PLAYER HAS BEEN FULLY WARNED, IS AWARE OF, AND APPROVES, UNDERSTANDS, APPRECIATES, AND ASSUMES ALL RISKS OF PICKLEBALL AND EVENT PARTICIPATION PRIOR TO THE DATE OF PLAYER’S FIRST PARTICIPATION IN ANY EVENT ACTIVITY.
Player does hereby knowingly, voluntarily, unconditionally, irrevocably, and forever release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Released Parties from any and all claims, suits, actions, liabilities, demands, damages, losses, judgments, costs, or expenses of any nature whatsoever, in any way relating to or arising from Player’s participation in the Events — even if arising from ordinary negligence of the Released Parties. This release shall not apply to Claims arising solely from gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Player acknowledges and understands that the waiver in this Section is binding on Player’s heirs, next of kin, personal representatives, successors, assigns, and all other persons acting or purporting to act on Player’s behalf.
Player consents to wearing a microphone, heart rate monitor, or other wearable technology for the purpose of capturing Player’s voice, biometric data, and sounds of competition for broadcast or promotional purposes.
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Singapore. The Parties irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
Disputes shall first be submitted to mediation under the Singapore Mediation Centre. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be resolved by confidential arbitration under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). All claims must be pursued on an individual basis; Player waives any right to class action.
Player confirms: (i) consulted a physician regarding participation; (ii) is in good physical condition; (iii) holds valid personal travel and medical insurance for the duration of stay in Singapore (mandatory); (iv) has obtained all necessary visas and entry approvals and completed the Singapore Arrival Card; and (v) agrees to comply with all Event rules, the EPIC Code of Conduct, and all applicable Singapore laws.
Player agrees to indemnify and hold the Released Parties harmless from any liability, claims, demands, costs, expenses, and legal fees incurred as a result of Player’s negligence, wilful misconduct, or breach of this Agreement.
If any provision of this Agreement is deemed to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable under applicable law, such provision shall be severed, and the remaining terms shall continue in full force and effect.
